  • 1/2 cup Coriander seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Toor dal seeds (Pigeon peas)
  • 2 tablespoons Chana dal seeds (split chickpea lentils)
  • 2 tablespoons
  • 2 tablespoons Urad dal seeds (Vigna mungo)
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Methi (Fenugreek)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper seeds
  • 100 grams Dried red chili
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Hing powder (Asafoetida)
  1. First, bring a frying pan, and on low heat, add coriander seeds, Toor dal, Chana dal, Urad dal seeds, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and tbsp Methi.

  2. Second, dry roast for 5 minutes with stirring. When you’re done put them aside.

  3. Third, In the same pan, Add black pepper seeds, and dried red chili. Roast them for 5 minutes with stirring.

  4. Next, add turmeric powder, and  Hing. Stir well for a couple of minutes.

  5. Finally, put all the ingredients in the blender and blend well. With this our sambar recipe powder is ready.
