  • Chana dal seeds (split chickpea lentils)
  • Urad dal seeds (Vigna mungo)
  • Cumin seeds
  • Methi (Fenugreek)
  • Mustard seeds
  • Black pepper seeds
  • Dried red chili
  • Turmeric powder
  • Hing powder (Asafoetida)

Directions

  • This sambar recipe powder is very easy to make and takes no time. First, bring a frying pan and on low heat, add 1/2 cup coriander seeds, 2 tbsp Toor dal, 2 tbsp Chana dal, 2 tbsp Urad dal seeds, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tbsp cumin seeds, and 1/4 tbsp Methi.
  • Second, dry roast for 5 minutes with stirring. When you're done put them aside.
  • Third, In the same pan, Add 1 tsp black pepper seeds, and 100 grams of dried red chili. Roast them for 5 minutes with stirring.
  • Next, add 1 tsp of turmeric powder, and 1/4 tsp of Hing. Stir well for a couple of minutes.
